Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter exited the company. Corcoran, one of ABC's original Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had completed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence, her mother, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran’s childhood. Her family was sometimes dependent on the food provided by the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran recalls her father being an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with disrespect and disrespect, particularly after the fact that he was drinking. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was eventually diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran went to an Catholic elementary school in her neighborhood and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. After failing several courses in her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and graduated as a D student.
